

Margie had ten children of her own and through the years welcomed many more into her home and heart. She enjoyed cooking every day for many, many family members and friends who had the privilege of knowing her. Along with cooking, Margie had a passion for growing flowers and vegetables and spent her days after retirement working in her yard. She had worked for almost 20 years at West Building Materials.
She is preceded in death by her husband of fifty-eight years, Gordon Hamilton Stickell; four children, Delores Ann Shannon, Ricky Hamilton Stickell, Randy Earl Stickell, Penny Elizabeth Smith and one grandson, Sean Alan Shannon.
She is survived by six children, Brenda Harless and husband, Tommy of Toledo Bend, Rebecca Stickell of Lafayette, George “Rudy” Stickell of Leesville, Faith O’Meara of Lake Charles, Kimberly Stickell of Lake Charles and Catherine Slade and husband, Jeff of Lake Charles; twelve grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren, as well as many others she loved and fed like her own children.
Her thumbs were green and her cooking was great, but Margie will be most remembered for her huge heart and loving ways.
Her funeral will be 2pm, Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Visitation will begin Friday, 5pm-9pm and resume Saturday 10am until service time. Interment will be in Highland Memory Gardens.
