She was born on June 20, 1944, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, to her beloved parents, Joseph Paul DiGiovanni and Josephine Neil, who instilled in her the strong values of faith, family, and generosity that would guide her throughout her life.
Marian was truly one of a kind. She was a gifted painter and talented cook, known just as much for her artistic abilities as for her quick wit and joyful spirit. Her humor and sweetness left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
She was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, cherished aunt, and loyal friend. Marian’s faith was the foundation of her life; as a devoted child of God, she carried her beliefs with quiet strength and grace.
If there was a celebration in town — especially a Mardi Gras parade — Marian was sure to be there, embracing every moment. She had a remarkable talent for crafting and created beautiful works of art from Mardi Gras beads, transforming simple treasures into lasting keepsakes.
Her kitchen was the heart of her home. Marian’s cooking was unmatched, prepared with love and generosity. She made certain that no one ever left her table hungry — or without feeling deeply cared for.
In her final days, strengthened by faith and sustained by love, she showed remarkable strength, holding on to witness a prayer fulfilled — her son Matthew’s marriage. With a grateful heart, she welcomed her first daughter-in-law into the family, finding deep peace in seeing Matthew begin this new chapter. This sacred moment was a blessing not only to her, but to her entire family, who will forever cherish that she was present to see God’s faithfulness unfold.
Marian was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roger Williams; her parents, Joseph and Josephine DiGiovanni; and her sister, Leona James.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Matthew Williams and wife Megan, and Mitchell Stine; her grandsons, Myles Williams and Maddox Heinen (and their mother, Meggan Nix), Elijah Lyons, and Carter Vincent; and her stepchildren, Natalie Otero and husband Ray, and Roger Williams III.
She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Howard James; her niece, Theresa Matte and husband Brian; and her nephews, Kevin James and wife Kesha, and Joey James and wife Diane.
Her memory will also be cherished by her great-nieces and great-nephews, Hunter Matte and wife Maggie, Taylor Matte and Finn (fur-nephew), Justen James and family, Hayden James, Jace James, and Alyssa Chesson (Caleb) and family.
She also leaves behind her first cousins, Sean DiGiovanni, Guy DiGiovanni, Vic DiGiovanni, and Diane Alcede; her great friend, Nell Roush; and her beloved cat, Ms. Katie
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate team at Allegiance Hospice for their dignity, tenderness, and unwavering support. A special thank you to Ms. Vee, her devoted CNA, whose loving care prepared her for the wedding day, making that treasured moment possible, and to Amber, her primary hospice nurse, whose steady presence and compassion brought great comfort in her final days.
