

He was born in Opelousas, LA and moved to Lake Charles in 1957. Mervin was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church. He worked for Schlumberger in the oil fields until his retirement. Mervin was a veteran of the US Army serving in the Korean Conflict. He loved to fish and hunt, especially catfishing.
Survivors include his loving wife, Rita L. Bergeron of Lake Charles; sons, Keith Bergeron and wife, Mary of Lake Charles, Kevin L. Bergeron and wife, Sandy of Basile and Craig A. Bergeron and wife, Kristie of Lake Charles; brothers, Edwin Bergeron of Everson, WA and James Bergeron of Opelousas; sister, Joyce Miller of Opelousas; grandchildren, Kristy, Dana, Whitni, Daniel, Callie and Emily; great grandchildren, Karlee, Baylee, Carmyn, Colston, Laikyn, Liam, Leilan and Addy.
Visitation will be on Thursday, March 23, 2017 from 5pm-8pm with a rosary at 6pm and will resume on Friday at 9am at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. The funeral service will be on Friday at 11am at St. Margaret Catholic Church. Burial will be at Prien Memorial Park Cemetery.
