

Funeral service for Pamela Bliss Watson Price, 68, will be Saturday, Jan. 3, beginning at 4 p.m. at Hixson Funeral Home, 3001 Ryan St. The Rev. Jack O’Dell, pastor of St. Luke Simpson United Methodist Church, will officiate. Visitation at the funeral home will begin at 2 p.m.
Pam died Monday evening in Harbor Hospice after a courageous fight against cancer. Pam was born April 22, 1946, the youngest child of Edward “Bill” Watson and Glenn Buck Watson. She was educated in the Calcasieu Parish school system. While at Lake Charles High, she was in the Kilties marching group for two years then was a varsity cheerleader for the following two years and head cheerleader her senior year. As a senior, she was elected Miss Lake Charles High. She was a member of the school’s Hall of Fame. She was queen of the Krewe of Contraband in 1965. She began her collegiate education at Louisiana State University. She later transferred to McNeese State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education in May 1970. She earned a realtor’s license and practiced with Reinauer Real Estate where she won Rookie of the Year honors. She returned to Lamar University, Orange campus, where she earned an Associate of Arts degree in Geriatric Counseling. She and her dog Jocko, now deceased, would visit local nursing homes where she conducted pet therapy sessions.
She is survived by her husband, J. Michael Price; one brother, William Buck Watson and his wife Marilyn of Lafayette; one nephew, Richard Wade Watson and wife Opal and their three children, Chloe, Kegan and Torin, all of Slidell; one daughter-in-law, Michelle Walker, her husband Keith and their children, Jack Walker and Michael Fontenot; stepnieces, Rob and Abby Rubel, and their children Madeline and Will, all of Shreveport, and Jonathan and Cheramie Joubert and their children, Georgia and Johnny, all of Lafayette. She is also survived by her beloved poodle, Podnah.
The family was overwhelmed and thankful for the outpouring of love and support after Pam’s diagnosis. The family also extends their warmest appreciation to the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center of Houston for their care.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
