Shirley was born in Elizabeth, Louisiana on November 3, 1951, where he grew up. He grew up simply on the family farm alongside his five siblings, where learned the value of hard work and the beauty of a humble life. He enjoyed working the land and had a lifelong love of building, fixing, and tinkering with anything he could get his hands on.
He was a graduate of Elizabeth High School class of 1969.
Shirley was a natural salesman; he never met a stranger. Leaving you smiling and feeling like an old friend. His gift for connecting with people led to a career in sales and entrepreneurship. His easy-going attitude, humor and determination built lasting relationships and opportunities.
In his young adulthood, he preached and shared the Word, always eager to tell others about the love of Jesus, his faith and love for the LORD was the hope that carried him through life.
He is preceded in death by his parents Y.O. Willis & Macie Marie Cloud Willis. Brothers, Charles Ervin Willis, Curtis Wayne Willis, Sister Marlene Willis Goss
Those left to cherish his memory include his sisters; Betty Willis Thompson, Wanda Willis Hatch (Mitch), his sons; Jacob Paul Willis, Daniel Howell Willis (David), his daughters; Anna Lea Willis Marcantel (David), Deborah “Chancey” Willis, seven grandchildren and one great granddaughter, along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank High Hope Care Center & Brighton Bridge Hospice for the care and compassion they showed in his final days.
The family will welcome the public for a memorial visitation at J. E. Hixson & Sons Chapel of Peace Wednesday, October 15, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 1:00 PM.
