

Sol was born in Steubenville, Ohio. He met his wife Rose in Galveston, Texas while serving in the Army during World War II. For many years, Sol and Rose worked side by side in the family business located in Texas City, Texas. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family. Sol was very proud of his involvement as a director of Texas First Bank for over 30 years. Sol was a long time member and served on the board of Congregation Beth Jacob in Galveston. He was active in Rotary, Crime Stoppers and the Chamber of Commerce. Sol treated everyone with respect, honesty and a sincere concern for their well being. He was a kind man who loved life and especially his family.
Sol is survived by his devoted wife, Rose. They recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. He is also survived by his two sons, David of Dallas, Texas and Bruce of Lake Charles, two wonderful daughters-in-law, Leslie and Judy Katz, and 4 very special grandchildren who brought joy to his life, Lindsay, Jeff, Ben and Sarah.
The family would like to thank the individuals from Southern Care Hospice (Amanda, Rosalynn, and Katie), Home Instead Senior Care, and Mary Baker for making Sol’s final days as comfortable as possible. Funeral services will be held at Temple Sinai on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at 11 a.m. Rabbi Barry Winestien will officiate.
