Valerie Whootz Jean Conchis Delaney

Valerie was preceded in death by her beloved husband Mark Steven Delaney and mother, Lorraine Doris Conchis. She and Mark enjoyed 27 years of marriage. They were blessed with two daughters, Bridget Ilene Delaney and Briana Lyn Delaney.

Valerie leaves behind her father, John Joseph Conchis, as well. Valerie is also deeply missed by her cherished dog, Niblet and granddog, Woofles.

Valerie graduated from Lowell High School in Whittier, CA. She also pursued her education in Lake Charles, LA and earned associate’s degrees with Cypress Community College in Cypress, CA, McNeese State University, Sowela Technical College, and Delta College of Business in Lake Charles, LA.

She volunteered as a tutor for the Lake Charles Literary Council and as an education committee member for St. Paul Lutheran church. She was a life-long student. She loved Snoopy and collected many items related to the comic character. She enjoyed making ribbon roses and decorative wicker baskets.

She rescued her dog, Niblet, from the Lake Charles Animal Shelter.

She was a Christian and loved to either attend or watch televised worship services on Sunday mornings. She attended St. Paul Lutheran for many years and then attended St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal.

The family request that in lieu of flowers please make a monetary donation to the Lake Charles Literacy Council.

A memorial service for Valerie Delaney will be held at 12:30 pm on Friday, September 28, 2012 at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church located at 123 W. Sale Rd. in Lake Charles. It is located on the corner of W. Sale Rd. and Bayou St. across from the Ryan St. Albertsons and Kmart parking lot. Cremation arrangements were held under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home.
