Velma Gilmore, age 85, entered into rest on Sunday July 15, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. Velma was born September 25, 1932 to Ivy and Odile Breaux. Shortly before 1955, she was introduced to a gentleman, John who she would later refer to as her beloved, settling and beginning their family in Lake Charles, LA. She enjoyed providing for her family and friends whether it was good company or food and was an avid seamstress.
Velma is survived by two sons, Charles Gilmore and wife, Aimee, John T. Gilmore ll and wife, Kay, both of Moss Bluff, LA; daughter, Connie Sossamon and husband, Terry of Lake Charles, LA; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren with two on the way, one brother Daniel L. Breaux and wife, Linda of Lake Charles, LA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband of 61 years, John T. Gilmore, one brother Harry "NuNu" Breaux and one sister Mildred Derouen.

Visitation will be held on Thursday July 19, 2018 at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles from the hours of 10am-1pm with services to follow . She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Consolata Cemetery in Lake Charles.
