

Walter was a born in Jeff Davis Parish and lived most of his life in Lake Charles. He served his country as a U.S. Merchant Marine during the Korean War. He was a retired operator from Gravity and Drainage Board. He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandpa, and brother. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 58 years, Mary Fuselier Savant; one son, Mark Savant and wife, Kim of Moss Bluff; one daughter, Paula Hebert of Lake Charles; one sister, Florida Arabie of Iowa; twelve grandchildren, Mandy, Nicole, Erica, Kristin, Felix, Jared, Tim, Nate, Cody, Ford, Grady, and Zachary; 4 great-grandchildren, Lily, Bryn, Jackson, Colton, and one on the way.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Nina Savant; one son, Jonathan Savant; two daughters, Christine West and Marianne Lowery; one sister, Lorraine Jones; and step-father, Oliver Woodard.
His funeral will be at 10:30am Monday, November 4, in the Chapel of Peace, Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Msgr. James Gaddy will celebrate it. Visitation will be from 3:00-8:00pm Sunday, November 3, with a rosary at 6:00pm and will resume Monday 8:00am until service time at the funeral home.
