

Lake Charles - Winnie Lea Rogge, 90, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 14, 2014 in a local care center. She was born on January 15, 1924 in DeRidder, LA, the only child of Robert and Lillie Mae Ford.
Winnie worked as a PBX operator at Cities Service, Union Pacific Oil, and Union Pacific Texas in Houston until her retirement. She was a lover of animals and strong in her faith. She wasn't able to have children, but was blessed with two step-daughters that she raised as her own.
Those left to cherish her memory are her two step-daughters, Patricia Breaux of Sulphur and Sharon (Jim) Tatum of Waleska, GA; seven step-grandchildren, Sam (Christy) Breaux, II of Carlyss, Lee Ann (Travis) Breaux of Catahoula, Tricia (Chuck) Matte of Sulphur, Chris (Claudia) Douget, Jami (Ryan) Crowe, Jason (Ashley) Douget, and Jeni Douget all of Georgia; fifteen step-great grandchildren and numerous cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Charles Edward Rogge.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Grand Cove Nursing Home for their outstanding care and loving touch. She made quite a few friends there and talked highly of them.
Her Home-Going will be 10:00am Monday, February 17, at Hixson Funeral Home Chapel of Lake Charles. The Rev. Ronnie Estes will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00pm Sunday, February 16 and will resume Monday 8am until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Old Ritchie Cemetery.
