

Adelina lived in San Antonio Texas until she moved to Ohio at 15 and then Michigan at age 16. Lake Odessa became her home where she was known and loved by many. She worked several jobs in her life, Lake Odessa Canning Company, retiring after thirty years at Owens Illinois Glass factory in Charlotte. Adelina was very active in her community through the years with her Church, Volunteering, Fundraising, Lake Odessa Fair Activities and Hispanic Club. She also enjoyed her daily walks, gardening, and trips with her children, grandchildren and friends.
Adelina successfully raised 6 children as a single parent while always working hard, long hours making the best of every situation. All her children’s friends loved Adelina; she fed them well and they were always welcomed in her home. Many often visited her throughout their adult lives with their families when passing through town or during her favorite, fair season.
Her greatest joy was always her grandchildren even though she worked a lot she spent as much time as she could with them and always liked to make Christmas as special as she could when they were all little, each one having their own special memories with her.
She was loved by many and was surrounded by all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren along with her good friend Marion Harris while at Spectrum Butterworth.
Adelina was preceded in death by her parents Delfino and Julia Martinez, Grandmother Juana D. Garcia, her son Rueben Valdez and daughter Deborah Valdez.
She is survived by her children; Richard (Denise) Valdez, Annette (Dan) Sexton, Vince Valdez, Felipe (Tia) Valdez and Alex Valdez, Grandchildren; Heather Hinman, Denise Cornell, Cray Valdez, Cory Valdez, Aleisha Valdez, Luke Valdez, Travis Kidder, Richard Cadwallader, Alita Cadwallader, Angel Valdez, Bella Valdez and Tru Valdez, Great Grandchildren; Landrick Hinman, Jaiden Cornell, Jase Cornell, Jordan Cornell and Theo Valdez. She is also survived by her sister Rose Rhoads and family, special niece Lydia Hansbarger and children as well as many bonus children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Services for Adelina will be at Living Gospel Church, 1600 Rochester St., Lake Odessa, MI 48849 on March 18, 2023. Visitation with family will start at 10:00 am with service at 11:00 am and cemetery will follow. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be given to help purchase a headstone.
