Clare Eugene Hollister

Clare Eugene Hollister, 80, of Lake Odessa, passed away Thursday, March 31, 2011 at the Laurels of Kent in Lowell. He was born August 12, 1930 in Ann Arbor the son of William and Nina (Gillette) Hollister. He was a Dairy Farmer most of his life and enjoyed the outdoors. He also enjoyed fishing, camping, working in the garden and talking deer hunting stories. He was married on December 12, 1992 to Connie Lou Olson. Upon retirement they moved from Sidney to Lake Odessa in February of 1995 and worked at part-time jobs. Clare was a member of Farm Bureau, MMPA and Class Act Club at Union Bank. He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Denny and Ronald; sisters, Helen, Maebell, Irene, Frances, Eva and Martha; brothers, Russell, Clifford, Harold and Carl. Surviving is his wife Connie; son, Steve (Lois) Hollister of Manchester; daughters, Shirley Jane Weatherwax of Grass Lake and Sharon Reed of Chelsea; step son, Charles Olson of Greenville; step daughters, Cindy Olson of Greenville and Carla (Wesley) Field of Brunswick, Georgia; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; sister, Florence (Bruce) Van Blaircum of Pickney. Honoring Clare’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm on Monday, April 4, 2011 at Lakeside Cemetery – Lake Odessa.
