Daniel Joseph Gutierrez

Visitation will be held at the Koops Funeral Chapel on Saturday, Dec. 12 from 3-6 PM, and again on Sunday, Dec. 13 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. Daniel Joseph Gutierrez, aged 41, of Grass Lake, MI, formerly of Lake Odessa, passed away suddenly at his home on Tuesday, December 8, 2009, following a number of years of health problems. Dan was born in Battle Creek on November 27, 1968. He graduated from Lakewood High School in 1987, and continued his education at Ferris State University where he had earned his Bachelor's Degree in education and business. For many years, Dan had worked as a finance manager at several automobile dealerships in mid-Michigan, including Team One Chevrolet in Charlotte, and most recently at Grass Lake Chevrolet. Dan was a very outgoing and fun-loving person who had many dear friends. He loved sports and was an avid University of Michigan fan. Dan was a loving father, son, brother, and uncle. He is survived by his son, Travis; step-children; Tyler Hettiger and Taylor Hettiger; father, Manuel (Betty) Rodriguez; brothers and sisters, Rebecca Gutierrez, Michael Gutierrez, Kathryn Rodriguez, Ramona Rodriguez , Michael (Judy) Rodriguez, and Victoria Rodriguez; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Dan was preceded in death by his mother, Janie (Vargas) Rodriguez. Visitation will be held at the Koops Funeral Chapel from 3-6 pm on Saturday, December 12, and again from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm on Sunday. The Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, December 14 at the St. Edwards Catholic Church in Lake Odessa. Final interment will take place at a later time in Lakeside Cemetery.
