Doreen Ellen Shoemaker

Doreen Ellen Shoemaker, age 90, of Lake Odessa, passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at her home. She was born on April 6, 1924 to Frank and Vera (Morrow) Sedore. During her early years, she loved helping her dad on the farm and spending time in the kitchen with her mom. She attended country school and graduated from Lake Odessa High School in 1942. Doreen married her best friend, Clyde Shoemaker, on May 13, 1943. She was a waitress at several area restaurants including Sessions, Doty's Café, Court Street Grill and A&W, retiring from Wyeth Labs. She loved her rose and flower garden as well as growing and canning many vegetables. Her many loves included her family, NASCAR's #48 Jimmie Johnson, family gatherings and the Christmas season. Surviving are her children, Doris J. Graul, Dennis (Luanne) Shoemaker, Darlene (Mark) Goodemoot, grandchildren Terri Lynn (Terry) Newman, Tina (Dennis) Sauers, Rhonda (Bob) Wolverton, Brandy (Kyle) Walkington, Paul (Sarah) Shoemaker, Jason (Emily) Goodemoot, and Justin Goodemoot along with 15 great grandchildren and special grandchildren Nicholas Rose, Tayler and Jake Eberhardt. Doreen is proceeded in death by; her parents, her husband Clyde, brothers Gail, Neil and Lynn Sedore, sisters Doris Sedore and Lorna Durkee and son-in-law Jerry Graul. Visitation will be held on January 1st 2015 from 4pm until 8pm at Koops Funeral Chapel, 935 4th Ave, Lake Odessa, MI 48849. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 2, 2015 at Koops Funeral Chapel. Interment will take place at Lakeside Cemetery in Lake Odessa, MI. Contributions in Doreen's name may be given to Pennock Hospice.
