
Douglas Dee Lackey, aged 68, of Lake Odessa was called Home on Wednesday evening, December 2, 2009. Doug was born in the family home near Mason, MI on May 24, 1941 to Milton and Margaret (Johnson) Lackey. He had attended Lake Odessa and Woodland schools, and was united in marriage to Janice Norton on September 2, 1961. He had owned and operated his own gravel company and towing company for over 30 years. Doug was an avid antique lover and collector of antique tractors. He loved going to tractor shows and displaying his prized and restored collection of tractors. Doug was particularly proud of his Farmall and Allis-Chalmers equipment, and was often heard by his family and friends to say, "No green allowed!" He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Lawrence Lackey and Vance Lackey. Doug is survived by Janice, his loving wife of 48 years; his two daughters, Annette Lackey-Walton, her husband, Mike, and their children, Trevor and Kyle; and Karen Lackey; brother-in-law, Larry Norton; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Lackey and Ardene Lackey; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and his long-time constant companion and pet, Rudy. Please join the family in celebrating Doug's life at a brief committal service at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, Dec. 8 at Lakeside Cemetery in Lake Odessa, with a luncheon and time for remembering to follow at 11:00 AM on Tuesday at Cunningham Acres.
