James A. Neustifter

James A. Neustifter, 66, of Woodland, went to be with his Lord and Savior unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at his residence. He was born February 6, 1945 in Grand Rapids, the son of John and Gertrude (Spruit) Neustifter. Jim graduated from Ionia High School in 1963 and was married to Janet Hefflebower on April 2, 1966. Jim was employed by Peschke Meats in Ionia for several years, followed by his employment as a Corrections Officer with the Michigan Department of Corrections at the Riverside facility. He retired on December 31, 2001. He enjoyed watching his grandkids playing sports, riding his motorcycle with his friends and was an avid University of Michigan fan. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, John and Gertrude Neustifter and parents-in-law, Carl and Arlene Hefflebower. Surviving is his loving wife of 45 years, Janet Neustifter; son, Scot (Page) Neustifter; daughter, Tracy (Matthew) Timm; grandchildren, Madison Neustifter, Maison Neustifter, Cody Timm and Melia Timm; brother, Jan C. (Mary Fran) Neustifter; sister-in-law, Barb (Jim) Wickham; uncle, Bob Reed; aunts, Clara Dalstra and Kathryn Newberry. Visitation with the family will be held from 6-8 pm on Thursday, October 6, 2011 at Koops Funeral Chapel – Lake Odessa. Funeral Services for Jim will be conducted at 3pm on Friday, October 7, 2011 at Koops Funeral Chapel – Lake Odessa. Interment to follow at Woodland Memorial Park.
