Jerald "Ross" Krebs of rural Lake Odessa graduated from his lifelong earthly home to his eternal heavenly home on December 20, 2013 with his family at his side. He was 87. Ross was born at home in Sunfield Township to Cecil and Anna (Dolly) Krebs on April 27, 1926. He graduated from Woodland High School in 1944 and in October 1948, he married his high school sweetheart, Dorothy Varney, at the Woodland Methodist Church. Ross spent his professional life in farming and in the farming industry-working as the Assistant Manager of the Sunfield Elevator for many years, then as a Grain Warehouse Inspector/Auditor for the State of Michigan Department of Agriculture for 20 years. Lessons he learned at the Woodbury United Brethren Church, where he was a member from the time of his birth until it closed nearly 80 years later, carried our dear father and grandfather through his life. He was a kind and Godly man who put faith, family and serving others first in his life. He leaves a legacy of love, a worthy example for all who knew him to follow and gave his family an inheritance that money could never buy. In addition to Dorothy, his wife of 65 years, Ross is survived by his children: Sue (Joseph) Graybill of Grandville; Gary (Dona) Krebs of Lake Odessa and Sandra (Gari) Weingart of Jerome. Other survivors include his five grandchildren: Winter & Hayden Krebs, Nate (Teresa) Graybill, Patience (Sam) Blevins Condellone and Micah (Jill) Graybill; and seven great-grand children: Caleb, Haven, Eden, Zion, Anna, Jessa & Joseph Graybill. Others left behind to mourn his loss are his brother Richard (Shirley) of Eaton Rapids, his dear sister-in-law: Virginia Decker of Lake Odessa, Mary Norris of Hastings, Jan Krebs of Muir and Cheri Krebs of East Lansing, many nieces and nephews, his loving cousin Jean Steward of Sunfield and many beloved friends. The family would also like to extend a special thank you to the caregivers who so tenderly and respectfully cared for Ross in his final months: Evelyn Cramer, Elaine Geiger and Rebecca Kelly. A memorial service will be held on Saturday January 4, 2:00 pm at the Kilpatrick United Brethren Church, 10005 Barnum Rd., Woodland, MI. The family will greet visitors following the service at a reception in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts in Ross's honor be given to the Woodland United Methodist Church, Heartland Hospice of Grand Rapids or Kilpatrick United Brethren Church.
