Kenneth E. McCurdy

Kenneth E. McCurdy, 98, of Woodland, passed away Monday, June 20, 2011. He was born May 3, 1913, in Detroit, the son of William and Vivian (Renoll) McCurdy. They moved to Lake Odessa in 1927. He finished the eighth grade and went to work on a farm to help out the family, but that never stopped him from learning and he could do just about anything. He was a lifelong farmer with 75 years on the same farm. Besides farming, he owned Ken�s Home Service in Woodland for 25 years. Kenneth loved to hunt, fish, play the organ and woodworking. He enjoyed traveling throughout North America and spent many winters in Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 56 years, Betty (Hecker) McCurdy; daughter, Karen McCurdy; 2 sisters, Ruth (Kenneth) Kittle and Roberta (Mark) Ramsey; brother, William McCurdy; his second wife of nearly 17 years, Fredia (Cox) McCurdy; step-daughter, Julia (Cox) Ramirez. Surviving is his daughter, Vivian (Bob) Reynolds; granddaughter, Debra (Craig) Potter; 4 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; sister, Thelma (Bud) Tissue; 5 step-children, Don (Dora) Cox, Dale (Lynn) Cox, Susan Cox, Janet Griffin, Sarah (Robert) Gallagher; 9 step-grandchildren, 7 step - great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Visitation with the family will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Thursday, June 23, 2011, at Koops Funeral Chapel � Lake Odessa. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m., Friday, June 24, 2011 at Koops Funeral Chapel � Lake Odessa, with Pastor Darrel Bosworth, officiating. Interment to follow at Woodland Memorial Park.
