Marian Elaine Mitchell

Marian Elaine Mitchell, age 98, of Lake Odessa, MI passed away Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Thornapple Manor in Hastings, MI. Elaine was born September 27, 1915 to Arthur and Carrie (Diehl) Dowling in Dansville, MI. She was a graduate of Dansville High School. On January 14, 1939 she married William Mitchell who preceded her in death in 1983. Together they owned and operated William's Department Store in Lake Odessa, MI. Elaine attended the Central United Methodist church and enjoyed spending time with her family, along with playing Bridge with her friends. She will be dearly missed by: children Marilyn (Richard) Brown, Margie (Darwin) Thompson, grandchildren Carrie Brown, Gerald (Sandra) Brown, Pamela (Steve) Ries, Thomas (Mindy) Thompson, Timothy (Sheryl) Thompson, Zachary (Shanda) Livermore, Ryan Mitchell, Kristy (Mitchell) Robbins, sister-in-laws Janet Purvis and Jean Mitchell, 17 great-grandchildren , many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death are: parents, husband William Mitchell, son John Mitchell, sister Margaret Dakin, brother Russell Dowling. Visitation is scheduled for 10am till time of services at the Koops Funeral Chapel, 935 4th Ave, Lake Odessa, MI 48849. Services will be held at the Koops Funeral Chapel 12pm. Interment will take place at WoodLawn Cemetery in Leslie, MI. Memorials may be given in Elaine's name to Thornapple Manor's Activity fund. www.koopsfc.com Funeral Service
