Merle E. Goodemoot

Merle E. "Mike" Goodemoot, age 88, of the Lake Odessa area passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, March 27, 2014. Mike was born on March 1, 1926 in West Sebewa to Allyn and Florence (Fox) Goodemoot. He was a graduate of Lake Odessa High School and served his country in World War II, stationed with the Army in Japan. On October 13, 1947, Mike married Virginia "Ginny" Harder and she survives. Mike loved to fish and hunt and follow the Detroit Tigers. Survivors include: wife Ginny, children Linda (Eric Shields) Holley and Mike (Betty) Goodemoot, grandchildren Melissa Hernandez, Meghean (Damian) Parker, Derrik Goodemoot, Meagan Lafler, Dustin (Laura) Lafler, great-grandchildren Joseph Holley, Graciela Hernandez and Antonio Hernandez, Taylor Lippert. He was preceded in death by: parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters, grandchild Eric Holley-Shields. A celebration of Mike's life will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at Koops Funeral Chapel, 935 4th Ave, Lake Odessa, MI 48849 at 3pm with the family receiving friends from 1pm till time of service.
