She was born in Flomaton, AL, September 16, 1930, to Stella M. and Riley “Coot” L. Stanton Sr. Betty Jo moved to FL as a young child. She lived most of her life in West Palm Beach moving to Port St Lucie in 2004.
She is preceded in death by her brother Riley “Rip” L. Stanton Jr., her niece Helen Stanton, and her granddaughter Jennifer Lynn McCall. The “Dancing Queen” leaves behind her children Laura Jo Ahern (John), David J. McCall Jr.(Nadine Lee), Alison “Cookie” S. Roberts (Steve), and Alicia M. Lange. All her grandchildren knew her as “MeMa”. Chris Griner (Marilu), Jason Griner (Julie), Stacy Carlson (Kris), David J McCall III, Brandon Roberts (Margaret), Trevor Roberts (Madeline), Kendall Roberts, Tyler Dube (Diurla) Great grandchildren Daisy, Braden, Riley, Ava, Arielysse, Jada, Brynley, Easton, David IV, Fiona, Kristina, Mayhle, Wren, Gabrielle, Nikolas, Lorena, and Ryder.
Great great grandchild Kaden The “Dancing Queen” owned and operated a successful insurance business, enjoyed watching TV, eating ice cream, teasing everyone and dancing. Betty Jo had an indomitable spirit and overcame many obstacles in her life. “MeMa” was admired, loved, and will be missed by her children and grands.
Services celebrating her life will be held Thursday May 25, 2023, 11am at Dorsey - E. Earl Smith Funeral Home, 3041 Kirk Road, Lake Worth, FL 33461 with Interment at Memory Gardens to follow. In lieu of flowers the family asks that a donation be made in Betty Jo’s name to Treasure Coast Hospice
