It is with a heavy heart we announce the peaceful passing of Doris Dery on June 15, 2022, at the age of 87. Doris was born on 6/17/1934 to James and Eugenie Griffin in Sherbrooke, Canada. As a young girl, she moved with her family to Wrentham, Massachusetts, where she made many dear friends. In her senior year of high school, she was voted cutest and best disposition, which was a fitting description of her to the end. She met her future husband, Bernie Dery, in Wrentham at the age of 12. As a young couple, they moved to Florida and settled in West Palm Beach, where they raised their four children in a house of love and laughter. Doris was athletic, loved the outdoors, especially the beach, and could often be seen with a car full of kids heading to the Causeway. Doris will be fondly remembered for her kindness, great sense of humor and her touch of hypochondria. If questioned about her self-diagnosis, she’d say her tombstone will one day read: “I told you I had something.” Doris was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Bernie, in 2006, and her son, Ronald Dery, in 2018. She will live on in her children, Bernie (Lori) Dery of St. Augustine, Lisa (Dan) Begley of West Palm Beach, Cheryl Dery Griffin of Palm Beach Gardens; Grandchildren, Brooke (Mike) Abitabilo, Cassie Griffin, Samantha Dery, Shannon (Ryan) Chase, Ryan and Evan Higbee, Zoe Begley and Ronnie Dery ; Great-Grandchildren, Cameron, Carter and Kendall Abitabilo; her sister, Theresa Card, of North Attleboro, Massachusetts; and many friends.
A Catholic funeral mass will be conducted at St. Ann Catholic Church, 310 North Olive Avenue, West Palm Beach, Florida, on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at 1:30 p.m., followed by burial at Memory Gardens in Lake Worth. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Doris can be made to The Parkinson’s Foundation.
"Our time with you was precious and our memories so beautiful."
