Jason Edward Long passed away April 26th, 2025, at his home in West Palm Beach, FL after many years of fighting various health issues. He was surrounded by his mother Marie, daughter Dallas, best friend Melissa, brother Alan, and sister-in-law Terri. He was born January 23, 1970, in Gilmer, Tx to John Long and Marie (Morandi) Long and was the last of four children (sons). The family traveled from TX to West Palm Beach, FL where he made lifelong friends on Reo Lane. The neighborhood friends enjoyed building forts, going canoeing, and playing football together. Jason went to Palm Springs Elementary, Conniston Middle School and John I Leonard High School. He had a deep love for music, football and spending time with his friends. He was adventurous, and enjoyed camping, canoeing and scuba diving.
Jason could be found at the Ale House on Sundays watching the Dallas Cowboys play and on Friday nights you could find him singing karaoke, oftentimes alongside his daughter, from the time she was able to sing.
Jason’s love of movies and history was passed along to those who would listen to him, and his love for music lives through his granddaughters. Jason fulfilled his lifelong dream of going to the Dallas Cowboys stadium to see his beloved football team at their home stadium.
Jason loved to sit by a fire and listen to music with his brother, Alan, as well as anyone else who cared to join. He was an expert in making others feel welcomed.
Over the years, he worked building cabinets, hanging drywall, and was a proud employee for Sysco in Palm Beach County before moving to Lake City, TN with his daughter Dallas, where they remained for 2 ½ years before moving back to FL, where he would spend the remainder of his life with his best friend, Melissa Jones, after building a family bond that will last a lifetime.
Jason had such a sense of humor that it would knock you off your feet. He could change just about any song lyric or movie line to a completely different narrative that would have you rolling over with laughter.
Jason's greatest achievement was having his beautiful daughter, Dallas Long. He was her anchor and best friend. He has always, and will continue to guide her through the best and worst of times. As a father, he loved more than anything the tight connection that he had with Dallas. Watching them together made his main purpose in life apparent. His two granddaughters, Nadrie and Rosalie Rivera enjoyed dancing to his 80's music and playing with their G-Paw every Friday night. Even though Jason never married, he took pride in his roll as a secondary father-figure to his two step children, Carmelo and Joshua Gagliotti, who Jason considered his own. Jason spent hours looking up at the sky, where his mind wandered and he felt connected to those he lost. Now those closest to him will do the same.
Jason was preceded by his father, John Long and his brothers Mike and Jimi Long. He is survived by his child Dallas Long, two granddaughters Nadrie and Rosalie Rivera, his remaining brother Alan and sister-in-law Terri Long, and his mother Marie Long Zwicker, all in Florida. He was loved dearly by his nieces and nephews, Michael, Emily, Jacquelyn, Justin, Sarah, and Allie.
Jason's Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday, May 18th from 11:00AM till Sunset in the Kitching Creek Pavillion at Jonathan Dickinson State Park. 16450 SE Federal Highway, Hobe Sound, FL 33455. Park fees will apply.
