

John M. (Mike) Davis, age 77, of Ocala, Florida passed away at his home on Tuesday June 10, 2025. He was born in Meadville, PA to James and Audrey (Shellenberger) Davis on August 26, 1947. He was married to Susan Jane (Wagner) Davis on July 15, 1967. They were married for 51 years. She preceded him in death on November 11, 2018.
Mike was a 1965 graduate of Meadville Senior High School in Meadville. Following high school he attended college but chose to enlist in the U.S. Army where he served at different locations throughout the United States, but mainly in Alaska. He was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant on February 23, 1968 and a 1st Lieutenant on April 11, 1970. He was honorably discharged from the service. He then chose to attend Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh, PA where he graduated. He began his career in Florida at the Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach, Florida. He was also employed on the School Board in Palm Beach and with the Solid Waste Authority also in Palm Beach, Florida.
Mike was elected to City Council in Palm Beach, Florida for 6 years and was then elected their Mayor where he held that position for 14 years. During his time in office he accomplished many improvements for their entire village.
He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing at Silver Shores Country Club in his immediate community. Mike and Sue loved to travel. They travel to many places in Europe and the Mediterranean area. They had close friends that they visited in Croatia. Their favorite place to go was Mazatlan, Mexico where they had a timeshare for 30 years. They also spent a lot of time traveling in the United States and Canada in their motorhome.
He is survived by his sister Debra (Davis) Day and her husband George Day of Kokomo, Indiana, Bob and Joyce Rozell of The Villages, Florida and Mechanicsburg, PA, Gloria Davis and her family of Mexico City, Mexico, and many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and a Nephew.
A visitation for Mike will be held Tuesday, July 1, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Dorsey-E. Earl Smith Memory Gardens, 3041 Kirk Road, Lake Worth, FL 33461. A funeral service will follow at 1:00PM. A committal service will be held at Lake Worth Memory Gardens.
