Leonard "Sonny" V. Shaffer

Born on December 6, 1940 in Indianapolis, IN he was the son of the late Homer and Ruby (Huddleston) Shaffer.

He was a Mason in the 32nd degree and of Christian faith. Sonny was a self-employed entrepreneur. Prior to relocating to Florida, he owned Shaffer’s Lawn and Garden on the south side of Indianapolis. In Florida, he started Shaffer and Son Trucking Company and worked as a plant broker. Most recently he worked as a foreman for an estate.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Barbara E. (Haas) Shaffer, his parents, and a brother, Robin Shaffer. He is survived and will be missed by his companion Hannelore Smith of Stuart; son Jeffrey A. Shaffer (Larrisa) of Jupiter; daughter Elizabeth E. Grader (Christopher) of Cincinnati, OH; sister Donna Ruesch (Tom) of Indianapolis, IN; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Pastor Chip Jurskis will officiate a funeral service on Monday January 23 at 11am at the Dorsey-E. Earl Smith Funeral Home, 3041 Kirk Rd, Lake Worth.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Sunday January 22 from 6 to 8pm and on Monday January 23 from 10am until the time of service at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Lake Worth Memory Gardens.
