

Louis Joseph Anzalone, 76 of Atlantis, Florida passed away peacefully with his loving wife by his side on May 6, 2018. Born in Glen Cove, Long Island, New York on December 11, 1941 to Michele and Anne Ranuldo Anzalone . He is survived by his wife Christine of 37 years, and brothers, Michael, George and Anthony. He attended St. Patrick Parochial Elementary School and graduated high school both in Glen Cove. Then he graduated C.W. Post College in 1963, with a degree in business.
His professional career began with the General Electric Company and successfully continued for 35 years. His first assignment was at 570 Lexington Ave., New York City as a financial analyst and attended the Financial Management program, equivalent to a collage Master’s Degree. In February, 1983 he was awarded the A&E Managerial Award, and in March, 1995 was recognized for his outstanding contribution during a career of faithful service and dedication. His career took him to positions in Bridgeport, CT, Philadelphia, Schenectady, NY, including international assignments in Dublin, Singapore, Munich and more. He was a financial analyst in both the I & SE and GETSCO divisions of General Electric.
After a rewarding career in finance, traveling and mentoring the FMP candidates, Louis retired in 1995. In 2000 he and his wife relocated to Atlantis, FL.His passion was sailing Star Class Boats. He had grown up in the Sea Scouts. After retirement he perfected his skills as a carpenter by making wall and grandfather clocks, doll houses and children’s roll-top desks. Louis had been legally blind since birth but his excellence in wood working was amazing. As a young lad he was a client at the IHB, Industrial Home for the Blind. His relationship with Low Vision Service continued for 20 years.
In retirement he decided to make a gift, to the now called Helen Keller Services for the Blind. This gift could be used by later generations of young students trying to further their educations despite blindness or low vision. The Louis Anzalone Braille Center publishes braille text books for NY students. Presently he was involved in the funding of the permanent location for The Lighthouse in Port Richey, FL. Despite Louis’ vision limitations, he never let it define him. His accomplishments and achievements are amazing. A visitation will be on Friday, May 11 from 5-8PM at The McLaughlin Kramer Megiel Funeral Home, 220 Glen St., Glen Cove, NY 11542, Mass of Christian burial will be at St. Patrick's Catholic Church on Saturday, May 12 at 9:45AM with a burial to follow at Holy Rood Cemetery.
