

Lula H. Brown, 102, left this life on May 22, 2017 to be with her Lord and Savior. She died at home surrounded by family and friends. She was born January 9, 1915 and is predeceased by her husband, Albert O. Brown, daughter, Vergie Albritton and grandson, William Dean Boyd. She leaves 2 children: son, Stanley Reed of Berlin, MD; and daughter Margaret Houchins of West Palm Beach, FL; 7 grandchildren, Edward Houchins, Jr., Dixie Yeager (Michael), Cindy Hunter (Bill), Gary Reed, Leslie Petty (Terry), Bradley Reed (Melissa) and Bruce Reed (Theresa); 13 great grandchildren, Melissa Franklin (Shane), Amelia Chautier, Margaret Schweiger (Michael), Will Hunter, Reed Hunter, Olivia Petty (Michael), Brett Petty, Cole Reed, Nate Reed, Ellie Reed, Bria Reed, Tyler Reed and Michelle Ali (Ty); 10 great great grandchildren, Elizabeth Chautier, Michael Chautier, Emma – Lee Elmer, Kennedy Elmer, Jenna Elmer, Austin Schweiger, Ben Schweiger, Shaun Ali, Issac Ali, and Elijah Ali. She worked at the Alexandria Torpedo Plant during WWII and later at the Floris Elementary School Cafeteria and the Herndon National Bank. She and her husband moved to Florida in 1956 where she worked at the Atlantic National Bank until she retired. More than anything she enjoyed cooking and had many dinner parties over the years for family, friends and neighbors. She will be sorely missed, especially her wit and wisdom.
