She was predeceased by her parents, Henry and Hilda (Vander Plaats) Dykhouse and her husband Andrew John Machiela. Marilyn is survived by her sister Helen Van der Plaats and her four sons, Kenneth (Alice De Young), Steven (Stefani Pomerantz) , Douglas and Todd. She adored her family and was most happy when they accompanied her. Whether it was one or a houseful. Her passion was traveling and made many trips around America and the globe with her husband, friends, and even alone! She usually had her next trip planned before she left on the current one. Her ancestors hailed from the Netherlands and she was proud of it. Anything Dutch would leave a smile on her face. Marilyn spent most of her married life as a mom and homemaker. When her children were in the latter years of school, she started two businesses on her own. “Party Land” was a party supply, card and gift store in Lantana and “The Gingerbread Man” was an upscale children’s clothing store in Manalapan.
Marilyn loved the Lord and was a member of Sunlight Community (Lake Worth Christian Reformed) Church since 1970.
She was blessed with 84 years of health and happiness. She never had a major illness and would often say how thankful she was. ‘I don’t have a pain in my body” she would profess often to friends and family up to days before her passing.
A private service and interment will be at Lake Worth Memory Gardens.
