May Bell graduated high school at the age of 16 and attended a vocational school in Nashville. During a field trip to National Life Insurance Company, she was offered a job and worked on some of the first key punch card computers. It was at church where she met her husband and love of her life, Archie Lin. They married after May Bell declined a management position at National Life to follow Archie to Tampa, Florida.
Archie owned a pharmacy, and May Bell assisted with bookkeeping while raising their two children. In 1972, they moved to Lake Worth, where she became a Social Secretary in Palm Beach. Over her 50-year career, she coordinated special events, including the International Red Cross Ball, and was involved in the creation of the Palm Beach Island Hospice Foundation. She served as the Membership Coordinator with the Palm Beach Symphony until she was 92.
May Bell was preceded in death by her husband Archie Lin, her parents Kie and Irene Davis and Albert and Amanda Lin, siblings Robert (Louise) Davis, Kenneth Davis, and Arvin (Pat) Lin, and son-in-law Larry John. She is survived by her children Kaye John and David (Lynnette) Lin, grandchildren Chadd (Jessie) Lin with children Hallie, Anolia, Ronan, Virginia, and Poppy, Carissa (Christopher) Zylstra with children Desmond and Darcy, and Leanna John, her brother Frank (Shirley) Davis, sister-in-law Betty Davis, and many nieces and nephews.
A woman of faith, May Bell was a member of the Church of the Nazarene and actively participated in Sunday School and Missions programs. She viewed the world through the lens of her Christian faith, greeting everyone with love and acceptance. Known for her grace and hospitality, May Bell was a true friend and mentor to many.
The family expresses gratitude to the friends who shared their lives with May Bell, Trustbridge Hospice for their support, and Community of Hope Pastor Dale Locke for his visitation and service.
May Bell's favorite Bible passage was Psalm 23, and her life motto was to make her corner of the world better, being a positive influence and looking to God for strength.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Community of Hope Lake Worth Campus, 165 Ohio Road, Lake Worth, Florida 33467.
