Mr. Farmer was born on Halloween, October 31, 1942. He had a wry and slightly rebellious personality that was both a trick and a treat for all who knew and loved him. He is remembered by his nieces and nephews as the “cool” uncle with a self-deprecating sense of humor and gift for storytelling.
He was raised in North Adams and graduated from Saint Joseph High School in 1961. He attended North Adams State College before joining the Army. He had a keen entrepreneurial spirit and worked in various sales and business ventures throughout the years. He was a proud United States Army Veteran.
As a lifelong member of Red Sox Nation and avid baseball fan, he loved returning to the Berkshires every summer after spending the cold winter months in South Florida. He particularly enjoyed the Fall Foliage and reconnecting with family and friends during his stay.
He is survived by his brother John Farmer and his wife Judy of Quincy; sisters-in-law Ginny Farmer of FL and Patty Farmer of CT; several cousins; and 11 nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his loving extended family in Florida including Kathleen Battalin and her children Martin and Lena Valyo of Lake Worth; and devoted buddy Roland Bouchard of Lake Worth and North Adams. He was preceded in death by his parents James and Lucy (Martin); his sister Lucy Anne and brothers Paul, Mark, and James Farmer.
Private burial in South Florida National Cemetery.
