Miguel Luis Casas Molinas, age 89, of Cary, North Carolina passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2018. He was the beloved husband of Carmen Luisa Solaún Casas. They were married in Cuba in 1952 and have spent the last 74 years together.
He was born on December 27, 1928 in Matanzas, Cuba and was the son of the late Voltaire Casas Rodriguez and Digna Molinas Casas. He was of Catholic faith.
In the summer of July 1960, Miguel and Carmen moved their family to the United States. They lived in Florida for 35 years then moved to Cary, NC in 1995.
While living in Cuba, he worked for the family business, Industrial Casas Rabelo y Cia. S.A. Once they moved to the United States, he worked at various companies and retired from FPL after 15 years of service. He was always grateful to the U.S. for giving him an opportunity to build a new life for himself and his family.
Those that knew Miguel know that he did everything for his family; he enjoyed spending as much time with them as he could. Miguel will be loved and missed but never forgotten.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Maria “Mary” DuLany (husband, Howard), Esther Brier (husband, Lewis), and Digna “Dini” Edwards (husband, Michael); grandchildren: Lisa DuLany Prout, Melissa DuLany Trivette, Carmen Brier, Patrick Edwards, and Mary Carmen Edwards; and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother Walter Casas.
