Born August 28, 1944, in Lima, Ohio, she was proud to be “daddy’s darling daughter” and little sister to her three older brothers. The family moved to Wapakoneta and then on to Marion, Ohio. With the support and tutelage of her mother, she became an accomplished pianist and seamstress. She competed in the Miss Heart of Ohio Pageant and graduated from Harding High School where she met her husband of 57 years, Douglas Bailey. She made her own school formals, pageant dresses, and wedding gown. They celebrated the birth of three daughters and then followed her parents in a move to West Palm Beach, Florida.
Nancy stayed at home with her children while they were young, serving on the school PTA and as a Girl Scout Leader, Sunday and Vacation Bible School Teacher, and Competitive Roller-Skating Mom. She and her husband also owned and operated an Amerada Hess service station When her girls got older, she returned to school to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). She worked at St. Mary’s Hospital and local physicians’ offices for several years before retiring due to injury.
In her later years, Nancy became very involved in Lakeside Presbyterian Church, serving as Elder, Deacon, and chair of several committees. She is affectionately remembered for the many fellowship meals she organized as a “Kitchen Lady” and her passionate decorating of the Church for the holidays. She was also a proud member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood.
Of all the things in her life, being “Mimi” was her greatest joy. She adored her grandchildren and anxiously awaited every interaction – caring for them when they were young, catching butterflies and ladybugs, teaching them to swim, celebrating their successes, and watching them grow into young adults. She will forever be their guardian angel!
Nancy is preceded in death by her husband Douglas Bailey, parents Robert and Lenore Parlette, brother and sister-in-law Bob and Juanita Parlette, and nephew Bobby Parlette. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Heather and Dean Ferguson, April and Robert Jones, and Amy and Jim Crumpton; grandchildren Cameron Crumpton, Kelsey Crumpton, Ryan Ferguson, and Zachary Jones; brothers and sister-in-law Doug and Marilyn Parlette and Jerry Parlette; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Pete and Susan Bailey; and several cousins, nephews and nieces.

Special thanks to Dr. Ira Brassloff and Dr. Daniel Spitz, and the medical teams of Flagler Medical Associates, Florida Cancer Specialists, Good Samaritan Hospital and Trustbridge Hospice for their compassionate care.
