
January 5, 2011 in her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born and raised in Hicksville Ohio. Peggy won the Ohio State Twirling Championship three years in a row, and also won the National Championship at the age of 15. Graduated from Hicksville high School at the age of 17, where she was a Drum major and Cheer leader. She signed with the U. S. O. Camp shows, and was assigned overseas at the age of 18. Being the only girl in the unit, she sang, twirled and tumbled her way into the hearts of thousands of our servicemen. January 1, 1945 she struted herself into fame leading the Army and the Air Corps Band at the Spaghetti football game in Florence Italy. After this performance her picture appeared in the January 29,1945 Overseas issue of Life Magazine, also Time, Stars and Stripes, Yank, and the Chicago Tribune. She was one of the outstanding performers during the actual fighting of WWII and was awarded a medal and citation in 1947 from the New York Office of U. S. O. Camp Shows of America. She met her Husband to be while on this overseas tour. Lt. Col. Lee V. Wisman. They returned to the United States and got married and had 3 daughters. Later in 1957 Peggy and her mother Kathryn Roan opened and operated Peggy Jean Roan Recreation Camps of America, where they, along with their staff taught Cheerleading, Tumbling, Trampoline, Drill Corp, Twirling, Water Skiing, and Music Camps
She married her second husband John U. Carroll in 1961 and then moved to Royal Palm Beach in 1962. She had one other daughter, and had lived in this area since. She was a member of Traditions Golf Club in Royal Palm Beach. Peggy was also preceded in death by a daughter Kellie Blake in 1991. Her survivors include her children;
Terry Fjellman, Jeri Lovett, Candi LaCasse. 9 grandchildren;
Monique James, Jillian Brown, Peggy Johnson, Rachael Theis, Christopher Blake, Crystal Blake, Danielle Schwing,and Tiffany LaCasse. She also leaves 5
great grandchildren. And numerous extended family and special friends.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Hospice of Palm Beach. Her family will receive friends on Friday, January 14, 2011 between 10:00 & 12:00 noon at the funeral home, when her funeral service will be celebrated at 12:00 noon. She will
be laid to rest immediately following at Lake Worth Memory Gardens.
