Born in Detroit, Michigan, Bob lived in Stuart for eighteen years.
He worked at the Design Center for Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, MI for
twenty-seven years. Bob also invented and patented the “Golf Ball Retrieval”.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy proudly serving our country in World War II.
Bob was also a member of the VFW, and was a life member of the Knights of Columbus.
Bob is lovingly survived by his wife, Betty Topp of Stuart, FL; daughter, Sherrie Freeland of Ludington, MI;
daughter, Valerie Hindy of Owosso, MI; son, Jerry Schmitt of Howell, MI;
brother, Ronald Schmitt of Zolfo Springs, FL; seven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren;
sister in law, Mary Schmitt (Bill) of Palm City, FL; dear friends,
Karen and Brian Lavan of Brighton, MI and Phylis Pantona of Palm City, FL.
He is predeceased by his wife, Margaret and his son, Robert Jr., as well as his brother, Bill.
