Scott loved life -- going out to eat, singing, making artwork and attending his program at Seagull Industries in Rivera Beach. When you were getting ready to go out, he would say “I’ll get my hat.” His favorite foods were hamburgers, French fries, chicken and Diet Cokes.
Scott was a gentle soul who liked to feed the wild birds, tolerated the doorstep cats and helped his caregivers with minor chores. He loved his family home in West Palm where he lived for 42 years.
He collected snow globes and calendars and knew every holiday by heart. He loved birthday parties and once he was told someone’s birth date, he remembered it forever. He also loved watching cartoons and especially liked Scooby-Doo and The Flintstones.
He was a Boy Scout, participated in Special Olympics and was of the Baptist faith.
Scott was born in Olean, New York, the son of Rev. Linford Wilcox and Artist Wilcox. He grew up in Western Pennsylvania and moved with his family to West Palm in 1966, where his parents established Operation Concern, a mission to help people in need.
He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his sister, Sharon Hendrix and her husband George Gibson of Albuquerque, New Mexico; nephews Benson and Nathan Hendrix of Albuquerque; former brother-in-law John Hendrix of Denton, Texas; and many friends.
Visitation will be at noon Thursday September 26, 2019 followed by services at 2 p.m. at Dorsey-E Earl Smith Funeral Home, 3041 Kirk Road, Lake Worth. Interment to follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery,
