

She was born September 29th, 1934 in Shady Spring, WV to Taylor Meador and Ethel Smith Meador.
She is survived by her only son, Shawn Lee Basore of Boca Raton, FL along with wife Karen and grandsons, Cole and Shane. She is also survived by 2 loving sisters Helen Ciuffreda of Lake Frederick, VA and Juanita Sletterink of Beckley, WV and predeceased by sisters Geneva Coffey of Eleanor, WV and Joyce Shrewsberry of West Palm Beach, FL as well her brother, Gene Meador of Beckley, WV.
She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and earned a BA in Education at Concord University in Athens, WV continuing with her Masters Degree from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, FL.
Shirley was a high school teacher for 37 years both in Washington County, MD (6) and in Broward County, FL (31) and was proud to have helped guide thousands of young students throughout her career.
Rarely one to stay relaxed for too long, Shirley was active as a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 10210 in Sebastian as well as a volunteer for the Sebastian River Medical Center Auxiliary where she received her 1000 hour pin. She also worked for Indian River Elections Board as well as the U.S. Census Bureau.
Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 3rd at 1:00pm
