

Hackett, William H. 95, passed away on March 18, 2015. Born in Yonkers, New York, son of the late James and Florence Hackett; he previously lived in Madison, New Jersey and Gouldsboro, Pennsylvania, before moving to Florida in 1990.
A graduate of St. John’s University, Brooklyn, New York; he retired in 1985 as Vice President and Corporate Secretary of Mutual of America Life Insurance Company. He had also served as Director of Mutual of America Investment Corporation. He was a Chartered Life Underwriter, a Fellow of the Life Management Institute and a Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter. He was a former Director of Big Bass Lake Community Association in Gouldsboro, and a former Director of The Hammocks at River Bridge Homeowner’s Association in West Palm Beach.
During World War II he served with the Army Security Agency of the Signal Corps as a Technical Sergeant attached to the Military District of Washington, DC.
He was a member of Saint Matthew Church in Lake Worth, Florida; active in various parish ministries, and a member of the Saint Vincent De Paul Society. He was a charter member and Financial Secretary of Clem Hammerschmitt, Sr. Council 11669 of the Knights of Columbus; and a member of Father Doherty Assembly 0155.
William is survived by his loving wife Jenny (nee Goris) of 71 years, son Gerard of Lake Worth, Florida; and daughter Theresa(Harry) Cole of Milltown, New Jersey. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, brothers James of Wantagh, New York; and John of Charlottesville, Virginia, and sister Katherine Warker of Pottstown, Pennsylvania.
A visitation will be held at Dorsey E. Earl Smith on Sunday, March 22, 2015 from 5-8PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Matthews Catholic Church on Monday, March 23, 2015 at 11:00AM.
