Neal Pete C. Thompson

     A vigil service will be at 6:00 p.m. Sunday, November 2, 2008 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dalton.  The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 3, 2008 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Fr. David Rykwalder officiating.  Interment will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Dalton with military honors by American Legion Post #301 of Dalton.

     Visitation will be between 3-6:00 p.m. Sunday at the church.

     Pete was born March 20, 1921 in Dalton, NE to Neal and Louise (Baker) Thompson.  He was united in marriage to Georgia Bess Sherlock July 10, 1944 in Alliance, NE. He was a WW II Army veteran and returned home after being honorably discharged in 1945.  He was the Dalton Postmaster for 20 years and retired in 1981.  He continued to farm in the Dalton area until his death.

     He will be lovingly remembered by his children: Kathy and Jack Watts, Greeley, CO, Cindy and Milan Lessman, Dalton, NE, Cornelia and Steve Louderback , Ashland, NE, Neal and Barbra Thompson of, Dalton, NE, Elizabeth and Randy Twarling , Dalton, NE; 14 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, sisters: Marjorie “Teedle” Watchorn, Dalton, NE, Kathryn Cortney, Denver, CO, brother: Jim Thompson, Dalton, NE and numerous nieces and nephews.

     He was preceded in death by his wife Georgia, parents, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
