Steve was born on March 31, 1955 at Scottsbluff, Nebraska to Doyle and Barbara (Detty) Poole.
He attended Cheyenne Public Schools and was active in Little League baseball and in 4H and FFA with hogs, dairy cattle and horses.
He married Lori Humphrey at Cheyenne on September 2, 1973. They made their home in Bayard since 1979.
Steve worked as a diesel mechanic for the NE Dept of Roads and later as a long haul trucker for over 30 years. He eventually purchased and operated his own trucks for over 12 years. He taught many people to drive, including Lori, who team drove with him for the last seven years of his driving career.
He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping, drag racing and motorcycle riding.
He will be remembered for his tasty roasted hogs and his willingness to help anyone who needed it. He left us way too soon.
He is survived by his wife Lori, daughter Corrie (Duane) Allendorf, son Jason Poole (Heather Bassett); grandsons, Dalton Allendorf, Trystin Sowders, Kristopher Kizzire, granddaughter Beretta Kizzire; sister Cheryl Wold; brothers Rod, Ron and Kerry Poole; mother-in-law Joan (Verlin) Reidel; several nephews and one niece. His four dogs, Ferina, Rocket, Trixie and Tuffy also survive him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law Kent Humphrey, brother-in-law Cris “Sidetrak” Humphrey and his Shih Tzu buddy Ferbie.
A gathering of remembrance will be held on Friday July 31, 2015 from 2-4PM at the Bayard Memorial Chapel 218 W 8th Bayard, NE. Casual attire is requested. Tributes of sympathy may be left at www.bridgeportmemorialchapel.com.
