Barbara Windfeld Menaldino

Barbara (Barb) Windfeld Menaldino died on Thursday, October 19, 2023 from natural causes. Barb was born in Denver, Colorado and spent most of her young and adult life in Lakewood, Colorado. Barb attended Golden High School. She met her husband, John Menaldino, at Fort Lewis College (FLC) in Durango, CO during her freshman registration in August of 1980. They married on May 27, 1993 in Lakewood and continued to live there.

Barb worked in the hotel industry for 34 years where she excelled in customer service, going the extra mile for customers and her employers. She worked as a front desk receptionist and guest relations expert. She helped with the switchboard, reservations, and concierge services. She communicated with other hotel departments, trained new employees, organized computer systems to help with shift audits, and worked with group and corporate reservations to make sell out dates. She received Employee of the Month Awards from Sheraton Hotel in 1988, the Employee of the Year from the Four Points Hotel in 1998, and the Spirit of Hampden Award from Hilton Worldwide in 2013.

Barb was a writer of poetry and stories. She was very intelligent when it came to the English language and loved to play with words. She loved to make paper snowflakes by hand with scissors, and loved trout fishing. She listened to all kinds of music and loved visiting with her sister, Nancy's dogs. She enjoyed going to her family cabin in Estes Park, CO and attending the Irish/Scottish Highland Festival there each year in September. She attended other Celtic events with her husband, sister, and family. Barb was always carefree, free spirited, and loving to everyone she met. She was always willing to lend a hand whenever she could. She had a friendly smile that made you feel welcome. Her smile went a long way to make one happy.

Barb is survived by her husband, John; one step-daughter, Shannon; two sisters, Lisa Voiland (Matt Hovey) and Nancy Voiland; two brothers, Bruce (Rose) Voiland and Daniel Voiland; nephew, Matthew Voiland; niece, Amber Voiland; uncle, Bill Abbott; cousins, Scott Abbott (Sue Lynds), Jan (Eric) Degerberg, Jodi (Bruce) Thieking, and Shelly Abbott; step grandson, Eric; great-niece, Annelise; and great-nephews, Vaan and Jack; and many extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Annelise Voiland; and her brother, Gary Voiland.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, November 3, 2023 at 10AM at Advantage Runyan Stevenson in Lakewood, CO.
