Joan Margaret Jackson

Joan Margaret Callaway Jackson, born January 5, 1931 in Dustin NE, to parents Margaret Bruns Callaway and Connie C Callaway, passed away on January 14, 2025. Joanie is survived by her children: Marsha Hanson of Wyoming, MN, Michael Jackson of Surprise, AZ, Marti Rothrock of Greeley, CO, and Paula (Robert) Grady of Elbert CO. Surviving siblings Con (Bette) Callaway of Sun City, AZ, Jody Callaway Wood SD, sister-in-law Sue Callaway of Ainsworth, NE. She is also survived by her step siblings Steve Babbitt (Sally) Broken Bow, NE, Nancy Drent (Ernie) of Beatrice, NE, and Gary Babbitt (Sharon) Richland, WA. Her grandchildren Kristy, Eric (Lori), James (Tanya) Hanson of MN, Stephanie and Jennifer Henderson of CO, Chase Williams, Brennen Jackson of CO and Blake Jackson of SC. She was affectionately known as GG to her 8 great grandchildren. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She graduated from high school in O’Neill NE in 1949. She married Donald H Jackson June 1950 in Ainsworth NE. Joanie and Don had 3 sons and 3 daughters. Over their 55 years marriage they lived in NE, CO, MN, before retiring in AZ. Joanie moved back to CO in 2021 to be closer to her son and daughters that still resided there. She was a lover of cats and always enjoyed playing bingo no matter where she was.

Joanie retired from US West in 1996 as a technical assistant. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Sun City and she became actively involved in the Lutheran Thrift Store in Sun City AZ until she returned to CO.

She is predeceased by her husband, Don, her son Donald Mark, an infant son, son-in-law, Larry Hanson, her parents, sister Jean Calkins, and brothers Lowell and Jack.

She is a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Ainsworth NE. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to:
