Maria Lina Atencio

Maria Lina Atencio, age 88, of Denver, Colorado passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2025. She was born in Santa Fe, New Mexico to Domacio & Tomasita Gonzales. She was the youngest of 6 children; Patrick (the oldest and only brother), and her beloved sisters; Dora, Judy, Mary and Flora.

Maria was a graduate of West High School in Denver. She worked at Golden Cream bakery, Sears, and The Denver. She was a homemaker raising 3 children; sons; Kevin, John II, and daughter; Denise. Maria loved the mountains and loved to fish and camp. She enjoyed traveling on the road - visiting family in New Mexico, Las Vegas, Arizona, and California. Maria also was an avid reader and she enjoyed listening to her music collection.

Maria is survived by her children; Kevin, John II, and Denise, as well as her grandchildren; John III, Celina, Julian, and great grandchildren; John IV and Arron. Maria is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years; John Atencio, her parents; Domacio & Tomasita, and her beloved brother & sisters, to which she was the last of her family.

We will miss Maria Lina very much. She lived a full life with all the people that loved her for her for who she was; a kind, giving, religious person. She believed that there was good in all, she forever prayed for all the people in the world in good times and bad times. We all know she is walking with the Lord in Heaven.

A visitation for Maria will be held Wednesday, May 28, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Advantage Runyan-Stevenson Capitol, 6425 West Alameda Ave, Lakewood, CO 80226. A rosary will occur Wednesday, May 28, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM, 6425 West Alameda Ave, Lakewood, CO 80226. A committal service will occur Wednesday, May 28, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery, 12801 W 44th Ave, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033. A reception will occur Wednesday, May 28, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, 6425 West Alameda Ave, Lakewood, CO 80226.
