Mike served in the U.S. Coast Guard and upon his return, he worked for the telephone company in Kansas City, MO. He then transferred to Denver, CO where he continued working and ultimately retired from U.S. West.
Mikes love of music was with him throughout his life. He played in country western bands for several years and became a square dance caller. After retirement, more of his time was spent calling dances all over Colorado and wherever he wanted to go vacationing. He was a well-known caller in the Denver area, and everyone loved his beautiful voice and fun personality.
Mikes other passion was helping others and he proudly volunteered for the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office CSV (Community Safety Volunteer) program. He spent the last 14 years wearing many hats and helping where there was a need. He was part of the community safety program, directed traffic at events, and worked in the armory.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence & Dorathy Darrah and his brother Terrence Darrah.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Dusty (Patricia) Darrah, two sisters, three grown children, four grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.
