Pops graduated from Wallace High School in Nebraska, he attended K State for two years and then completed his bachelor's degree at San Diego State. He joined the Navy in 1964 where he was a Naval Officer and pilot. He received top recommendations from his commanding officer as the most desired wingman in battle.
Patrick soon met the love of his life, Carmen Q. Flores, and they were married in San Diego, CA. After his service in the Navy, Patrick worked as an insurance underwriter and property inspector.
He had a love for flying airplanes. He learned to fly crop dusters at 11 years of age. In the US Navy he flew fighter jets off of air craft carriers (A-4, A-7, F-15). Later in life, Patrick enjoyed flying Cessna's as a hobby.
Pop's love for the open sky, was parallel to his dedication to his family. He was the most dedicated and loving husband; patient, caring and loving dad; devoted and generous grandpa.
Pop's was always there for his son, Joey. He would check in with him and see what he may have needed help with, particularly with picking his granddaughter up from school.
He was so patient and understanding, even when he had sly jokes about his wife; she never understood
his sense of humor, but those jokes showed how much he really loved her.
Patrick is preceded in death by his parents and twin brother Michael. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Carmen (Denver, CO); son Joey LaVelle (Denver, CO); grandchildren Kizzy Calev (Denver, CO), Christa Ann (Honolulu, HI), Aria Joseph (Honolulu, HI); and sister Judy Faught (Denver).

And Patrick's most famous quote and last words: "Let's Kick the Tires and Light the Fires!"
