

Born in Buena Vista, Colorado to Edward and Laura Estella (Clay) Wright. Growing up he moved around Colorado and Wyoming. Graduating from Durango High School in 1933. After working two years to save for college he attended and graduated from the University of Colorado in 1939with a Bachelor of Science (Business) degree. After the Pearl Harbor invasion, he joined the Army, serving in the European Theater in WWII from January 1942 until his Honorable Discharge, September 1945. While in the service of his country, he was never injured and participated in North Africa, D-Day invasion on Utah Beach and the Battle of Bulge. On November 11, 1945 he married his sweetheart of six years, Opal L. Schwaninger, in Denver, Colorado. His 33 year career was with the Federal Government Department of the Interior as an accountant, retiring June 1974. He has resided in Lakewood, Colorado from 1952 until his death. He was a very active member of the Lakewood Community, serving on the Lakewood City Council , receiving the distinguished service to boy hood, the Boy Scout "Silver Beaver." A 60 year member of the Lakewood United Methodist Church, a 32 degree Mason, Shriner of the El Jebel Temple as Temple Guard, member of Lakewood Historical Society, Son of American Revolution and served on the Alameda Water and Sanitation Board, founder of the Lakewood Civic Association, Jeffco Action Center and Neighbors for Lakewood. He was a devoted, faithful, honorable, kind, loving son, husband, father, grandfather and friend. he will be dearly missed by all that have known him. Survivors are son, Craig E. Wright (Dawn McFadden), daughter, Jody W. Kellough (Thomas), grandsons, Nathan and Benjamin Wright. Funeral, Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at 11:00 am at Lakewood United Methodist Church, 1309 Brentwood St., Lakewood, CO. with viewing from 10:00 to 11:00. Entombment at Olinger Crown Hill Cemetery following the the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his honor to the Denver Hospice, 501 S. Cherry St., suite 700, Denver, CO 80246
