

Al Ferrara was a musician and entertainer for 12 years with the Johnny Dee Trio touring the country, making records, playing the Arthur Godfrey show and the Palace Theater in NYC. He was an accomplished violinist for over 50 years. Al joined Metropolitan Life in 1958, was an MDRT producer for 7 years. In 1964 he started his own business in Life Insurance and Financial Planning. He became a General Agent for the Guardian Life Insurance Co and over the next three decades he developed a very successful business with his son Steven. Al taught Concept therapy for over 20 years. Al had a lifelong passion for learning and spirituality. With his daughter and son and Dr. Mike Fitzgerald hundreds of people were helped on their path to health and happiness. After he retired he continued to mentor new agents at the firm until 2011. Al was an amazing inspiring man to his family, his agents, students and friends. A man of tremendous caring and compassion his legacy will be felt and carried on for years to come. His life was a gift to his family who were so fortunate to have him as a father, husband, brother, grandfather and uncle. He could not have had the amazing life he had without the love and total support of his wife Elaine for the last 30 years. Al is predeceased by his parents Joseph and Philomena Ferrara, brother, Ralph Ferrara, grandson, Christopher Ferrara, and first wife Marian. Mr. Ferrara is survived by his wife of 31 years, Elaine, children, Patricia Comforti and her husband Donald, Steven Ferrara and his wife Alie, step children, Sam Iacovelli and his wife Kathleen, and Linda Scott and her husband Bob, grandchildren, Christopher, Tina, Danielle, Bobby, Ashley, Anthony, Travis, Caitlin, and Alexandria, step grandchildren, Marissa, Amandea, and Melodee, and sisters, Marie Belfiore and Jeanette Castro. Friends may call Monday, March 10, 2014 from 4-8 pm at the D’Elia Funeral Home Rt. 70 & Vermont Ave. Lakewood, NJ 08701. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at 10AM at the funeral home. Entombment will take place at Holmdel Cemetery in Holmdel.
