

Barbara is survived by her Husband of 53 years James Cannon, and her four children Albert Cannon, Robert Cannon, and her twin daughters Cynthia Carrasco-Cannon and Barbara Cannon Jr. Her daughter in-laws Theresa Cannon- Zhangi Angela Cannon, and Lorraine Carrasco-Cannon. Her Grandchildren Dominic Cannon, James Cannon, Gannon Lerma-Hill, as well as one Great Granddaughter Harper Grace Cannon.
She is preceded in death by her beloved Son Richard Cannon and Daughter Elizabeth Rose
Barbara was born on November 2nd, 1940, in Yonkers, New York to Robert Gensch and Anna Gensch. She graduated from St. Barnabas High School in 1958. She married James Cannon of Staten Island in 1969; the couple settled in their first home on 9 Bond Street in SI, New York.
Her children remember her as a loving mother that made her home feel like home to anyone who came through her door. She raised her children to love, respect, and cherish even the simplest things in life. Her smile was not only radiant but also contagious. God put her on this earth to spread kindness, and unconditional love.
Barbara was passionate about her family. She enjoyed gardening, biking, square dancing, crafts and decorating her home for the holidays. A devoted Catholic and active member of St Luke’s in Tom’s River, she enjoyed going to church, especially the choir mass. She was a Eucharistic minister and distributed communion to home bound parish members. Barbara was a member of numerous clubs & organizations and was past president of Richmond Squares and St. Mary Guild.
Flowers can be sent in Barbara's name to D'Elia Funeral Home prior to her Funeral Mass, delivery should be no later than Thursday, September 21st.
A Funeral Mass will be from 9:15 AM to 10:15 AM at St. Luke RC Church, 1674 Old Freehold Road, Toms River, NJ 08755. A committal service will follow at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Rd, Wrightstown, NJ 08562.
