Charles Nelson Holmes, age 78, of Toms River, NJ, passed away on Monday, January 11, 2021 at the AristaCare health care facility in Manchester, NJ. Charles was born March 20, 1942 in Montpelier, VT. He was a former resident of Monmouth County and Nevada before moving to Toms River 20 years ago.
He was a member of Union Local 472 for over 50 years, having worked in roadway construction. He enjoyed fishing and gardening. Charles loved taking road trips with his beloved wife.
Charles is survived by his wife of 53 years, Linda Joy Holmes (Ebert); a dear brother in law, Allan Ebert and his wife Anne; several nieces, a nephew, and several great nieces and great nephews.
A memorial visitation for Charles will be held Monday, January 18, 2021 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at D'Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Avenue, Lakewood, NJ 08701. A memorial service will occur Monday, January 18, 2021 at 11:00 AM, 1300 Vermont Avenue, Lakewood, NJ 08701. A committal service will occur Monday, January 18, 2021 at 12:15 PM at Old Tennent Cemetery, 454 Tennent Road, Manalapan, NJ 07726. A cremation will occur.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to S.A.V.E. Animal Rescue.
