

She grew up on the north shore of Staten Island, in Westerleigh. She attended Concordia College in Minnesota. Early in her college years she met and married her husband, Charles Otto Brinkman, returning to Staten Island. Dorothy (Dot) and Charles (Charlie) were married for 58 years. Over their years together, they lived in Poughkeepsie and West Nyack, NY and in Pine Beach, Lakewood and Shewsbury NJ. She worked for Tappen Zee Townhouse in Nyack, NY and Ingersoll Rand Corp, in Montvale, NJ.
Dot was active in several churches over her life including Christ Lutheran Church in Woodcliff Lake, NJ, Good Shepard Lutheran Church in Pearl River NY, and The Presbyterian Church in Toms River, NY.
Dot had many talents. She loved to cook and especially bake, strawberry sponge cake, custard cream puffs being her signature bake goods. She was an accomplished piano player, a very talented seamstress and an avid beachgoer, spending every summer at Pine Beach and at the ocean.
Dot is predeceased by her husband Charlie. She is survived by her two sons and their wives, Steven and Janet, and James and Cathy. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Dana (Bryon) Gatchek, Eric Brinkman, Kristen Brinkman, Kenneth (Josh) Brinkman, Caitlin (Lucas) Holland. In addition, she is survived by her great grandchildren, Tanner, Sydney, Owen, and Wynn.
A celebration of Dot’s life will be held at a later date in the Spring.
