Born in Staten Island, New York on May 27th, 1927, Betty was an only child born to Theresa and Joseph Forlenza. She met her late husband, Stanley Onyrscuk, in an elevator at the office building where they both worked. True rebels for the time, they eloped and were married on July 10th, 1948. They were married for nearly 60 years before Stanley passed away in 2007.
Throughout her life, Betty held a variety of jobs. Wherever she worked, whether it was a physical therapy assistant or receptionist at an elementary school, Betty made lifelong friends. She was known for her fashionable outfits, gregarious personality, wit, and generosity. Betty loved to make people laugh and she made a lasting impression on anyone who met her.
Betty was a loving mother to her three children, the late Stephen (Maureen) Onyrscuk, Robert (Marge) Onyrscuk, and Lisa (Vincent) Alfeo. She adored her seven grandchildren, Anthony (Nicole) Onyrscuk, Brian (Ines) Onyrscuk, Jennifer Onyrscuk, Christina Onyrscuk (Matt Papayanopulos), Christopher (Kelly) Onyrscuk, Antonia Alfeo (Kyle Cobb), and Joseph Alfeo, as well as her five great-grandchildren, Claire, Aspasia, Theodore, Samuel, and Ella. Betty would brag about all of them to whoever would listen, including the cashier at the supermarket, and was proud of their many accomplishments.
A visitation for Betty will be held Sunday, September 11, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at D'Elia Funeral Home, Route 70 & Vermont Avenue, Lakewood, NJ 08701.
